# Supported apps

**Rephrasing works everywhere you can type** — any macOS app with a standard
text field, and every major browser. You can also **double-tap Tab in an empty
reply box** to request a proactive draft, including outside the automatic support list.
This shortcut works when automatic proactive is off. It needs readable conversation context.

## Rephrasing works everywhere

**Rephrasing** offers **Shorten**, **Improve**, **Formal**, **Friendly**, and
**Custom** for your current paragraph. Double-tap **Tab** to open the dialog.
Click a mode, or use **Shift + 1** through **Shift + 5** while the dialog is open.

All modes work on your text and use the surrounding context where it is

## Automatic suggestions

**Proactive drafts**, **completions**, and **corrections** are enabled by default
on every website in supported browsers. A website does not need to appear in
the examples below. Completions continue your draft; corrections check the text
in the input. App and website settings, and pauses, still apply.

These features need readable, editable text. Search and sign-in fields do not
receive completions. Google Docs uses a canvas editor and currently supports
rephrasing only.

Proactive reads the conversation through accessible text, with OCR as a fallback.
It drafts a reply only when it can identify the latest message as someone else's.

Documents get no proactive drafts — there's no conversation to reply to.
Instead, **completions** help you continue the paragraph you're writing, and
corrections work as usual.
